Starter for Ten

The week Jaywick became a film set. Or at least part of Jaywick for part of a week.

Friday 14 October saw the putting up of Christmas lights along the Broadway.

The Never Say Die was also decorated.
Filming was to take place using the outside of both the Never Say Die and the Eldorado amusements.
The film is to be in the 80's so older cars had t be found.
Down the "sea" roads big lorries were parked with all thje equipment needed for filming.
The Car Park was made into a location headquarters,
It was almost as if the cirus had come to town
In this van were hundreds of costumes all ready for the cast.
The lunch wagon and the bus is the place to eat.
A lot of filming was done in the week in a private house. this is the lighting being put up for filming
It took a long white to get all those decs up,
All done and heading back to camp.
Back at the house things are getting ready for the days shoot

The house, christmas decorations at the ready.
The place was all done out in 80's style, and had to be put back to original before the owners returned
Heavy cabling was used for the equipment
Moveing things the easy way this little vehcle became a familer sight over the week
Sunday dawned this was to be the longest of the shooting days.
Alice Eve, daughter of Trevor Eve stars in the film. she has also been in
  • Poirot: The Mystery of the Blue Train (2005) (TV)
  • The Rotters' Club (2005) (TV) ...
  • Stage Beauty (2004) ..
  • Hawking (2004) (TV)

Sunday evening and it's dark
Over Jaywick is a very brightlight, all is ready for filming.
The crowds gather, some of the people remembering they have missed Emmerdale for this.
I don't think the streets have ever seen these crowds before.
The first scene to be shot, three lads have to leave an archade and wal along the street.
A few takes are needed, two local people are extras having to be passers by.

The next scene will be shot outside the Never Say Die

And here are the three male stars,

James McAvoy, James Corden (in a wig) and Dominic Cooper.

The cameraman gets up high
A 1980s bus was brought in for the occasion too.
The whole of this section of the archde was changed for the film
Way down by the sea the crew and cast are out filming again.
